Oasis Jumpstart

Food Sovereignty — personal health, community health, and food forestry to provide abundance and restoration.

The Oasis Jumpstart project supports health and self-empowerment in underserved communities and the physical environments in which these communities live through a 5-year multi-phase initiative that includes:

  • 10-day Jumpstart Programs

    • 1x per month in year 1, with decreasing frequency adjusted as needed in year 2 and beyond

  • Food boxes with fresh produce from local farms

    • weekly food delivery available after participation in the Jumpstart Program

  • Food forest on-site to provide access to food in perpetuity

    • planned and planted in year 1;

    • tended to with decreasing frequency from year 2 - year 4;

    • transitioned to "self-managed" food forest in year 5

a 10-day whole-foods plant-based meal program

with biometric testing* before day 1 and on day 10

(*weight, cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, triglycerides)

relationships with local and regional farms

for short-term access to fresh whole foods

workshops in nutrition / cooking demos

/ grocery shopping tours

food forest projects

for long-term access to fresh whole foods

and food sovereignty
